Nice cast of smarties. Did you attract them by promising you'd follow them back? How does a struggling writer with no sense of decorum or social causism get to star in a guest post?

Hi. I totally agree with these points. I'd add that if someone is temporarily involved in something that will involve lots of repetitive or 'look at me' tweets - like a hashtag meeting or a competition - I'll cut them slack if they apologise or explain periodically but I won't if they just spam them out.

I was put in this position when I was in the Ms Twitter competition - which I pulled out of after winning the UK leg because it's just months of self-promotion otherwise and I was already totally bored of it. (Apologies for the avatar BTW, I changed it months ago but it's stored that one for comments for some reason.)

I was very fortunate that, because I explained what I was doing and why I was doing it (to promote literacy and the idea that 'the pen is mightier than the pin-up') my followers were incredibly supportive and I gained way more than I lost but I think it's always good manners to explain yourself if you plan to over-tweet for a while. I think you can temporarily 'mute' over-tweeters if they warn you but I'm not sure which app you need for that.

Thanks for posting this. BTW, I tried to subscribe to your post feed but it's broken so I favorited you instead. Found you on Linkedin through Chris B.

Rebecca
http://rebeccawoodhead.com
http://WordNerdArmy.blogspot.com
